This bar, in the Charing Cross area next to the Mitchell Library, is so cool it doesn't have its name on the sign outside. Those in the know come here for fabulous cocktails and great Glasgow banter. Inspired by the alias of American hip author Charles Bukowski, there’s pop art on the walls, 70 different bourbons to try behind the bar and friendly staff who make sure the drinks keep flowing. Get a seat in the garden outside in good weather.

House for an Art Lover
In the grounds of Bellahouston Park, Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s award-winning design has been brought to life. The clean lines and fluid style of the décor and architectural nooks and crannies – from art nouveau inglenook fireplaces to intricate glass-panelled cupboards – are as user-friendly and on the money design-wise as they were when he put pen to paper back in 1901. Stay for lunch at the Art Lovers’ Café, on the ground floor overlooking the gardens.
